What is a “100 Good Wishes Quilt”?
Well, to welcome and celebrate a new life, a tradition exists in the northern part of China, to make a Bai Jia Bei (100 Good Wishes Quilt). Friends and family contribute squares of cloth along with their wish for the baby. The quilt is said to contain the luck and energy from everyone who contributed a piece of fabric. (I choose to call it prayers from everyone) The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
How to contribute:
1.)Choose a machine washable, 100% cotton fabric. It can be new or used/meaningful.
2.)Cut a large square , maybe 12X12.
3.)Add a note with your good wish or prayer for Lily, with a small piece of the fabric attached to the note. It can be simple or elaborate, your own words or a favorite poem, quote, recipe or whatever you want to share. Please remember to sign your wish and include your city and state. All the notes will be put into an album/scrapbook and when we look through it we will be able to match up the wish/prayer and the fabric in the quilt! When Lily is older she will be able to match up the wishes and fabric to her quilt and share her quilt with her children. Each square we receive will be added on this blog!

Okay, I'm in! And Flat Stanley so had fun with us on our field trips. So much that he's ripped to shreds. I'll take better care of your quilt I promise!
I've got pics of Stan, by the way. I haven't forgotten!
This is awesome. I'll send mine soon. I am sure Emma would love to help...can she send one also?
Yes, Emma can send one too!
